Local IT Security Consultant Graeme Neilson has recently returned from presenting at Black Hat USA in Las Vegas. Black Hat is the world's premier IT Security/Hackers conference, with approx 5000 attendees.  Graeme Neilson presented 'Netscreen of the Dead: Developing a Trojaned ScreenOS for Juniper Netscreen Appliances'.

Graeme's talk detailed the issues with supply-chain security, showing that you can't trust any piece of kit out of the box.  He demonstrated how he reverse engineered the Juniper firewall firmware and successfully re-loaded his own customised version. It looks like a NetScreen; it works like a NetScreen, but now has some unique security features!

Graeme won't be presenting his 'Netscreen of the Dead' at the 1st Tuesday Club, instead he is going to give us the insider view on the crazy goings-on at BlackHat!
