The First Tuesday Club

1st Tuesday Club Endorses AusCERT2010

The 1st Tuesday Club is endorsing this year's AusCERT2010, the Asia Pacific Information Technology Security Conference.   AusCERT is an international conference focusing on IT security for CFOs, CIOs, CTOs and technical staff from government agencies, universities and industry.

This will be the ninth AusCERT conference and will take place at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.  It will run from Sunday 16th to Wednesday 19th May 2010 followed by two days of tutorials. The theme for 2010 is  "Nothing Without Security".

Members of the 1st Tuesday Club qualify for a discount at AusCERT2010, details of which are available within the LinkedIn group.

Well we all survived AusCERT, although those that used IBM's give away Flash Drives may not have, as they were infected with malware. Very unfortunate for a Security Conference! We met some extremely interesting people like Roger Dingledine, creator of TOR, Randy Abrams Director of Training for eSET, prolific blogger and journalist and Whitfield Diffie co-creator of Public Key Crypto.

Richard Beach’s (IRD) presentation on Security Awareness training & education and Mike Seddon’s (Telecom) on Inside a Telco were extremely well received by delegates.  The Kiwi delegate numbers were at their highest ever and we would like to think this will continue to grow, providing our local community with professional development and an international network to share and explore ideas.
